Hi! My name is Ranen, your new FYCC President. I'm so honored to be serving you this year alongside Jojo, Brock, Miri, and Jeff, and am excited to get down to work!
I want to make sure that you're kept in the loop of what we're doing. Here's what we've done in the past few weeks:
- Set up meetings with representatives from the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Habif Health and Wellness Center, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, and SU Senate to collaborate on expanding access to menstrual products on campus (most of which will happen later this month)
- Read and reviewed the 2018 Working Group report on Menstrual Products and Gender-Neutral Restrooms
- Set up a meeting with Office of Parking and Transportation to speak about the Bird and electric vehicles ban
- Met with representatives from WashU Votes and the Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement to discuss strategies of expanding access to voter registration and absentee ballots in the South 40
- Partnered with Give Thanks Give Back to collaborate and run a Holiday Gift Drive
- Scheduled 5 office hours each week
- Scheduled 10 public forums, one per residential hall, for October/November
- Attended the annual Student Union Retreat, learning about the plans of the SU Executive Board and ways FYCC can assist them in promoting equity, representation, and accessibility on campus
- Established an Instagram account and set up email (firstyear@su.wustl.edu)
- Filed an appeal to SU Treasury to purchase 25 tickets for a Haunted House, which will be distributed to members of the class
- Working on creating a movie night on the swamp with the Sophomore Class Council
Each month, we will do our best to keep you updated and informed. If you ever have any questions, feel free to reach out to us through the "Contact us" section of this website! Have an amazing week!
