Happy November!

Hi! I'm hoping everybody is having a lovely month. I just wanted to update you all on FYCC's progress from the past month, and what we've been up to.


Since last month, we've held meetings with representatives from:


- Center for Diversity and Inclusion

- Habif Health and Wellness Center

- Office of Parking and Transportation

- Career Center

- Skandalaris Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship

- Gephardt Institute for Civic and Community Engagement

- Travis Tucker (Assistant Director for Student Life)

- the DUC

- Residential Life Center

- The Junior League, our menstrual products community partner

- Office of Sustainability

- Student Sustainability Board

- SU Senate Health and Wellness Committee

- SU Senate Campus and Residential Experience Committee

- SU Diversity and Inclusion Committee

- Senior, Junior, and Sophomore Class Councils


Through these meetings:


- The DUC will file for a capital improvement project; if approved, the grant will enable the installation of menstrual product dispensers in restrooms of every building on campus

- We've created a new slate of voter registration posters to engage students, which will go up in South 40 dorms later this month

- We've organized a Q&A Form and partnership with the Office of Parking and Transportation which will offer students the opportunity to clarify parts of the recent Bird and electric vehicle policy on campus

- We've partnered with the Skandalaris Center to organize an IdeaBounce event in the South 40 in January to set new goals for secon semester

- We've gathered data regarding the July 2018 report on Menstrual Products and Gender-Neutral Restrooms (specifically speaking with parties involved)

- We've committed to partnering to organize a Mental Health Week in March

- We've begun organizing for a Night of Culture second semester which will showcase the various cultures and backgrounds of WashU students

- Begun discussions of expanding access to Career Center resources for first-year students


Here's what we've also been up to:


- Filed for a grant from the Women's Society of WashU to create menstrual products

- Partnered with Give Thanks Give Back to organize the largest gift drive in WashU history (with 200 student groups signed up to give back)

- Collaborated with the sophomore, junior, and senior class councils to collectively appeal for 200 free tickets and organized a free Haunted House Halloween event (with 40% of eligible tickets going towards the first-year class)

- Publicized community events from campus partners (including all the groups mentioned above)

- Scheduled 5 office hours a week

- Conducted public forums in Wayman Crow, Myers/Hurd, Lee/Beaumont, Liggett/Koenig, Park/Mudd, Danforth, Umrath, and Eliot


In the upcoming month, here's what we'll be up to:


- Organizing a movie night on the swamp with the Sophomore Class Council for the holiday season

- Organizing a cookie-decorating contest

- Painting a Thanksgiving panel asking what students are thankful for

- Planning the Night of Culture

- Planning a Mental Health Week

- Planning an Alumni fund to subsidize PrEP on campus

- Launching new Voter Registration Information Initiative

- Partnering with the Career Center to launch a new platform for first-year opportunities

- Organizing our IdeaBounce with Skandalaris

- Set up meetings with Campus Dining Services, WUPD, the Office of Student Success, the Center for Diversity and Inclusion, Residential Life, WUGAs, Gephardt, and the SU Senate Academic Affairs Committee


It has been a busy month, but we're energized and excited to continue working! Together, we have been able to do so much, and in the month ahead, we look forwards to continue serving you in every way we can.
